"Use a small pulley to pull wire."

If at all possible keep a small awning pulley that is made of steel and accepts a 3/8" rope in your toolbox. When pulling wire, you can fasten the pulley up over the top of the pipe with a beam clamp or a piece of rope. This allows you to take the pull line that is in the pipe and route it up and over the pulley and use it as a snatch block.
