I am studying to become a electrician, and I found your website, by using a search engine, "electrical Symbols", I got the symbols, I need, But I was wondering since I don't have a copy of the Canadian Electrical code book yet, I know there a lot more symbols, then the onces you have online, is it possible for you to get me a copy of all the symbols for now until my Course Provider sends me a copy of this code book. You can e-mail me at:tbird@accesscomm.ca THank You

THROUGH LOTS OF RESEARCH AND PICKING MY ELECTRICAL BUDDIES BRAINS I MANAGED TO BUILD A SAFE 30HP ROTARY PHASE CONVERTER. IF ONLY I WOULD HAVE DISCOVERED YOUR SITE SOONER! MY NEXT HURDLE IS TO RUN A 550V 3PHASE SINGLE VOLTAGE MOTOR ON MY DRILL GRINDER WITH SOME TRANSFORMERS TO MAKE IT 220V 3 PHASE. THANKS FOR THE INFO. AND TO ALL YOU DO-IT-YOURSELFERS, PLAY WITH THE CAPACITORS AND YOU CAN GET +OR- 5% VOLTAGE ACROSS THE LEGS.

I have been an Electrician for 20 years. I work for DeltaWye Electric. I have always lived and worked in Orange County.

I love this internet site and others like it.

I think the 2001 State Journeymans test is going to be a good thing. I think it will help keep the trade a high wage skill.

I have always moraly supported the IBEW but never joined.

I have studied craft training through ABC. I learned a lot about Code requirments that way.

I support the State Journeyman test requirment for 2002.

I am actually looking for information on the symbols "L1,L2,L3" to be specific is it true that it is only used to discribe or denote line in voltages and at no time would it refer to a common or nutural circuit could you please E-Mail me at Whitspark2@aol.com

I was searching through your site in preparation for taking,an electrical helpers test. I did not find the information I wanted,an expanded list of electrical symbols. I have taken the test before and failed. In the test there were symbols to be identified, one that I recognized was an underground transformer bank. Many of the symbols and materials I had never seen. I am bookmarking this site, and expect to return many, many times. I read your three pages of symbols, but they are the ones I already had in my books.

I THINK THIS IS A GREAT SITE. THE VIOLATION PICS ARE BETTER THAN THE SUNDAY FUNNIES. HOWEVER, THEY NEED TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY, AS THERE ARE ALOT OF PEOPLE OUT THAT ARE EITHER APATHETIC AND/OR IGNORANT IN WHAT THEY DO. THESE PICS NEED AN ALBUM OF THEIR OWN TITLED "DON'T DO THIS" OR "STRANGE BUT TRUE". IS THAT A "JOY" SOAP BOTTLE FOR THE RECEPTICLE? SERIOUSLY THOUGH,I NEVER THOUGHT I COULD FIND SO MUCH USEFUL INFORMATION IN ONE WEB SITE. GREAT JOB!

Yes! I'm very under paid. Be working in Wilmington, NC all my life and still can't a good living. I make 13.75 hr and that's about it around here, most make 8 to 11 bucks a hour. Try and pay your rent on that or buy a house...hahahaha

My wife makes more than me and most woman in this town makes more than electricians.

And do the companys give you anything, NO! Once again, I depend on my wife that. A job is all I get!

So..if your a young man looking for a trade, please look else where! Go to school...not trade school!

There is no money doing electrical work!

What is the big deal about being a electrician? Very under pay. I would never tell a young man to go into this field.

Heck, plumber makes more! Even heat and air guys! Even the wood guys! You guys make way less that the cost of living!

So, please get off the electricain mess...go to college and make some money!

Great questions , They make the installer think twice before assuming that " Thats how we always did it " As an inspector and owner of an inspection bureua in North East Penna , I can tell you it is so frustrating to go to an inspection and have to fail it because the contractor did not read the codebook right. E mail me to: Inspect99718@cs.com And keep up the good work your doing . Jim

Larry Berry and his staff supply electricians, utilities, linemen and contractors with quality tools, safety gear and clothing, plus any special or hard to find item you could want. His new line of flash protection clothing has already saved Four electricians and you can read about them on the site, so check it out at www.shannonotools.com.

For all you electricians that work for themselves and need a electrical wholesaler to supply everything that you need from lighting to cable cheeper than you can buy it at the moment and deliver on site within two days. Then E-mail me on stall@ukonline.co.uk and i will suprise you with the prices. I have very small overheads so i can afford to sell extreamly cheep.

I am interested in design of single phase transformers. Those will be so connected to have output voltage settable from 0 to 20 volts. 1) 420V/4V X'former, capacity - 13000 Amps continius, with input from variable auto transformer. quantity -1, (2) 420V/8V X'formers, capacity - 13000 Amps continius. quantity -2 nos. Those will be connected to mains 420 Volts directly when required or when it is not to be used primary will be shorted. Secondaries of all the three transformers will be permanantly connected in series. let me have your views and ideas.

They are the tipe that give good working people a baaaaaad name and teputation, and how they can sleep at night, knowing that there "work" can kill people and there family's i do not know.

I would like someone to tell me if i am entitled to any certificate or documentation saying that i am a competent approved electrician ;when i started the trade working as a mate back in 1972 the well established firm i was working for did not send people to college so i did my training the old fashioned way so to speak ;the only problem being that more or less all through my working life ive had to work for people ive allways known because they know i am a good sparks and i do a good job ;however now i have reached 43 years old i have been looking for a nice little maintenance job they just do not want to know because i have no city and guilds or eqivelent ;even though i proberbly have a better knowledge than a younger person with all due respect ;could you possibly help yours truly roger c moore.

We also have apprentices that we share the questions with and it seems to inspire them to challenge one another and their journeymen. Some wiring diagrams would be helpful. Keep up the good work.

Midland, Texas I like your site and enjoyed taking some of the tests as I have been studying up up electrcal wiring. I am (?) buying a home, but first the PE inspector said the home was wired with Romex Aluminum. When I questioned him on it, as he said it should be monitored, he changed and said it was copper and the lead in wire is aluminum.I feel if a system has to be maintained(electrical) or monitored, there must be a good reason then just flickering lights.Loose connections, overheated could be a problem if it is aluminmum. My realtor said if I had a contractor come in I would have to rewire the whole house to code.Well, if it is copper, why? Obviously it is a mixture of aluminum in the major circuitry.I don't know, but I do not wish to fry. When I asked the realtor who installed the GFI's, he thought the owner did! I told him there are different sizes and kinds.Everything is being swept under the carpet. I missed my flight this morning (electrical co. had electricity off to install new transformers) and now the seller wants to keep the 3K I put down and pay his(undisclosed property and sewer taxes with it. Plus rent the house to someone and put it back on the market.I don't want to pay his taxes!

Any suggestions?Thankyou, Anne Michaud 915-684-4338 phone, fax and web tv.I am trying to avoid a lawsuit.
